Empty Bowls Minimize

Luna Pier Business Association Presents

EMPTY BOWLS

Sunday~November 19th~3:00-6:00 PM

Luna Pier Volunteer Fire Department, 4268 Luna Pier Road, Luna Pier, MI 48157

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger.  The basic premise is simple: Potters and craftspeople, educators and others join with local organizations to create handcrafted bowls.   The local organization secures donations of soup and bread from local restaurants and bakeries.     Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread.

In exchange for a cash donation of $10.00 (or more), guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.

All money raised is donated to local organizations working to end hunger.

The Luna Pier Business Association is sponsoring the fourth EMPTY BOWLS event to support local food banks.     Please make a donation of $10.00 (or more) to the Luna Pier Business Association (Empty Bowls) and retain this sheet and your ticket.     When you arrive on Sunday, November 19th you will select one of the handmade glazed clay bowls, seat yourself and decide which of the many soups and breads you will try first.      The Empty Bowl is bottomless so you may sample as many soups as you wish.     There will also be a Fine Art Raffle and 50/50 Raffle.  After the event you will keep the bowl as a reminder of the empty bowls around the world.

Tickets are available at: Luna Pier Market, City Hall, Rasey Library or from any LPBA Member

Please make checks payable to:

Luna Pier Business Association (Empty Bowls)  P.O. Box 161 • Luna Pier, MI 48157

Your donation to Empty Bowls is 100% tax deductible

Geocaching in Luna Pier
So you have a cool GPS device to show you how to get to the…Mall? Here’s a terrific way to give your Garmin® or TomTom® a real workout in a high-tech treasure hunt right here in Luna Pier! It’s a fun sport called Geocaching (www.geocaching.com), and there are at least seven sites here in Luna Pier to find, with many more on the outskirts of the City. Using your GPS, you’ll enter Latitude and Longitude data supplied to you from the geocaching website. You’ll use your GPS to help you approximate the location and find the hidden “stash”. It’s customary to sign a log and swap out a “treasure”, so bring some small goodies with you. To get started, go to www.geocaching.com and click on “Getting Started”! Then get out and GO treasure hunting!
